Your questions answered

At EastCoast Home Elevators, we know you will have questions – some you may not have even thought of yet. We’re always happy to have a chat and provide information. Meanwhile, here are the answers to some questions we’re often asked. Of course, every project is different, so consider these Q&As a guide until we can sit down and talk details.

Q. Do I need a home lift?

A. There are many situations where installing a home lift may be necessary or desirable. Here are a few to consider:

  • If you are building or renovating, this is the perfect opportunity to future-proof your home and add value. It has been projected that in 10 years time, most multi-level homes will have lifts.

  • Perhaps it’s the safety and convenience of carrying children and toddlers up several flights of stairs along with their associated prams and equipment; and there may be greater concern when older babysitters/grandparents are involved.

  • Making three or four trips from the garage up to the kitchen or living room with shopping, work essentials or sports equipment can be exhausting and time-wasting.

  • A home lift means all areas of your home are easily accessible, so you can make the most of it every day and at all life stages.

  • It’s hard to leave a home and neighbourhood you love when the stairs get to be too much to handle, and installing a lift can work out to be a more practical and economical option than downsizing.

Q.Can I add a home lift to my existing home?

A. Almost certainly – there are very few instances where a home lift can’t be installed. Many different models and styles of elevators are available, and if there’s no room for one inside, a tower lift can be constructed on the exterior.

Q.What areas do EastCoast Home Elevators cover?

A. We service the east coast of Australia from Newcastle to Brisbane, so make EastCoast Home Elevators your first choice for home lifts in any of these cities and surrounding areas:

Newcastle; Port Stephens; Forster; Port Macquarie; South West Rocks; Valla Beach; Coffs Harbour; Yamba; Ballina; Armidale; Tamworth; Byron Bay; Tweed Heads; Gold Coast; Brisbane; Toowoomba; Sunshine Coast.

Q.How much space does a home lift need?

A. Elevators come in a variety of types and sizes to suit a range of uses, but generally the lift will take up around the same amount of space as a modern shower.

Q.How long does it take to install a home lift?

A. At EastCoast Home Elevators we use only premium-quality lifts imported from reputable European manufacturers and installed by qualified tradesmen each with 20 years or more experience. Our elevators are custom-manufactured for each individual project and average installation takes 16 to 20 weeks from the time a contract is signed to final handover.

Q.Will the lift look like part of my home?

A. Yes, at EastCoast Home Elevators we go out of our way to ensure your residential lift reflects the architecture and interior design of your home. You can choose from a huge range of colours, materials and finishes to customise the interior of the lift cabin as well as doors and exterior finishes. We’re happy to work with your interior designer or architect to create a look that’s right for your home.

Q.How much does it cost to install a home lift?

A. The cost of a home elevator varies greatly depending on what is required, how simple or fancy the finishes and the difficulty of installation. As a guide, you can expect a home elevator to cost about the same as a fully equipped kitchen. And just like a kitchen, the cost will depend on the type of lift required, the brand, model, size and features chosen, and whether any structural modifications are needed. All EastCoast Home Elevators quotes include installation and costs can be quoted with standard fittings and fixtures or with high-end options that will make your home elevator a stunning feature.

Q.Will a home lift add value to my home?

A. While real estate agents can’t agree on how much value a home elevator will add to a home – it depends on location, style and quality of the home – they do agree that it will definitely increase a home’s value and make it more attractive to a wider range of potential buyers. As the population ages, elevators have become more popular and in years to come older buyers are only likely to be interested in multi-level homes if they have a lift.
